CENTRE FOR SUSTAINABLE FARM SYSTEMS (CESFARMS) UNIVERSITY OF MATARAM

(PUSAT STUDI SISTEM PERTANIAN BERKELANJUTAN – UNIVERSITAS MATARAM)

Introduction

The Centre for Sustainable Farm Systems (CESFARMS) in bahasa called “Pusat Studi Pertanian Berkelanjutan (PSPB)” was formally established with a Rector Decree, No 7293/UN18/HK/2020 on 30 August 2020, under the Agency of Research and Community Services of the University of Mataram. The management structure includes experts team were also formally approved by Rector Decree No 7350/UN18/HK/2020 on 1 September 2020. CESFARMS is actually a transition from the East Indonesia Innovative Farming Systems and Capability for Agribusiness Activity (IFSCA) program, which was under collaboration between University of Mataram, Indonesia and Massey University, New Zealand (2015-2020). The IFSCA was aimed to increase the capability of agricultural resources in Eastern Indonesia, with a focus on innovation development of sustainable agriculture based on Maize-Cattle-Leucaena in Dompu and horticulture to support tourism in North Lombok.  CESFARMS activities is not only for Research and Development but also a center for mentoring and training activities for all stakeholders in the field of sustainable agriculture and the environment.

 

Vision and Mission

CESFARMS has a vision to become a center of excellence in sustainable agricultural management to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) “. Mission to be developed are:

  1. Develop research, training and community service in the field of developing sustainable farm systems and environmental management.
  2. Provide advocacy and recommendations to the government in sustainable Farms Systems to support food security, environmental health, and community welfare towards achieving SDG’s.
  3. Implementing the spirit of the higher education policy on” Freedom to Learn and Freedom Campus. CESFARMS will actively develop cooperation with government, universities, research institutions, NGOs, and companies or private sector in the fields of research and development, training, and internships in the field of sustainable agriculture.
  4. Providing consulting services in the field of sustainable agriculture and farming systems.
